INTRODUCTION

We are fundraising to develop the Old School in Thornhill to provide space, activities and a public programme that stimulates ideas and supports our rural community and small businesses in DG3.

Old School Thornhill (OST) has begun a community led Garden Project on the site, planting vegetables with the help of local residents.

We have recently been awarded funds from the National Lottery ‘Awards for All’ to build on this work and develop the garden over the longer term.

This has to work in tandem with the renovation and redevelopment of the building which we hope will commence in 2022 so there will be some element of stopping and starting as the site is developed.

We require a Gardener/Designer Team to develop a small garden / green-space concept that engages and involves our local community in its conception, design and delivery.

FEE

£2000 (up to 10 days)

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Relevant qualification or experience in horticulture and garden design.

Ability to co-ordinate a small group of volunteers.

Flexibility and capacity to work over the longer term.

We will prioritise those individuals who live and work in DG3 but will consider applications from across Dumfries and Galloway.
