Rebecca Hill and Charlie Stewart are a harpist and fiddle player based in the thriving traditional music scene in Glasgow. Their debut album 'Thawcrook' recorded in 2022 seen them reach the finals of the MG Alba Scots Trad Music Awards ‘ComposeroftheYear’ category in 2023.
The pair experiment with contemporary compositional techniques, creating hypnotic themes and integrating large sections of improvisation within arrangements, bringing an off- the-cuff, conversational feel to their music.
They further develop this sound in their upcoming album, ‘Glas’.

Public Consultation regarding Proposal for the Police Station
Thornhill Police Station has recently been closed after being deemed surplus to requirements by Police Scotland. The building was identified in the Thornhill Place Plan as a possible location for community led housing. It is a beautiful building which reflects the unique architecture of Thornhill and Old School Thornhill Development Trust (OST) believe it should be redeveloped for the benefit of the village. We are currently exploring options to purchase the building and accompanying garden space. We hope to develop the site and breathe new life into this important building in the village, while helping to address identified local needs in housing and childcare. We understand that there is a need for more affordable housing in the village and have evidenced this more concretely through a Housing Need and Demand Assessment survey (HNDA) undertaken by South of Scotland Community Housing (SOSCH) in 2024. The survey demonstrated a demand locally for both smaller and family-sized homes. In addition to the homes, we are also exploring the possibility of using part of the building to accommodate a nursery business which could provide wrap around childcare. This has been identified as a need within the village and was highlighted in the Thornhill Place Plan. We have commissioned local architect, John Murray to undertake a feasibility study for the building, which includes developing plans for how it could be brought back into use while working within its existing form. The layout option being explored includes a three-bedroom house and two one-bedroom flats. We would now like to hear the views of the community about this proposal. ASN Workgroup Coffee Morning
As part of the Youthwork programme at the OST, Lia has been teaching a small group of pupils at WHA how to make coffee and now they want to show off their skills! They are planning a special coffee afternoon to raise money for the group with a particular focus on activities to improve their mental health. This was the cause they chose and we are happy to support them. Please come along to the Community Room if you would also like to show support.

The Ridge (Rehearsed Reading)
A world engulfed by water. A community holding back forces of evil. The power of stories to save us.
In a post-collapse landscape where former high ground has become islands, two migrants –mother and son – arrive at Autumn Ridge. They are welcomed in a way they haven’t previously experienced and learn how the community has built a sustainable and egalitarian
way of life.
This rehearsed reading of a script by Tessa Gordziejo, directed by Rod Dixon with a cast of professional and student performers, is part of a Support for Ambition award from Arts D&G and the first part of an exciting future project in Thornhill. Audiences are invited to join The
Ridge, hear its stories, find out more about the project and have an early input into its development.

OST Family Fun

We will have live demos from Seishin Shotokan Karate Club, S.T.I.L.L Strong Gym Class, Katz Club Street and Hip Hop Dancing, The Wee Music Group and Beneath the Branches Forest School.
There will also be activities in the Youth Room and light refreshments.
